This Isn’t a Difficult Decision

I am genuinely asking: where is the line drawn in the sand?  I think many of us had similar values and morals instilled upon us growing up; especially if you grew up with religion.  We help others who are less fortunate, we don’t judge, we respect and love our neighbors, and treat others like we would want to be treated.  When was this goal post moved so that it applies to only certain demographics of people?

We are in a country where we have religious freedom.  There is no law that states one religion is right and the other is wrong.  We have separation of church and state enshrined in the First Amendment of our Constitution.  It’s preventing Congress from establishing a national religion and allowing all of us the free exercise of religion.  No one is attacking Christianity, but simply pushing back on the ideals being spread across the country that the Bible is the rule of the land. We are simply asking you to put yourself in another’s perspective.  Just because you believe in Christianity, the Bible, and the teachings of God and Jesus Christ, that does not give you the right to demand that our government, down to the public schools, legislate according to that faith.  Please believe deeply and wholeheartedly in your faith and the Bible, but to demand others hold those same beliefs is not what the founding principle of this country is based on.  We can also look deeply into the interpretation of the religion.  Christians all interpret the Bible differently, from their own experiences, and also choose which values and teachings to live by.  As someone who was brought up Christian, it horrifies me to see people try to use our faith as the reason to outlaw homosexual marriage, outlaw abortion, and bring God and Jesus into the school system.  The same people that are standing up at school board meetings demanding that teachers not indoctrinate their children with Critical Race Theory or books about homosexual relationships and people of color, are demanding the indoctrination of all children into Christianity.  I never see anyone, but those that fall under the Christianity umbrella, trying to indoctrinate others into their faith.  Start to pay attention to who is door knocking, which religions are taking out billboards, advertisements, and commercials.  So where is the line of who you align yourself with?  How do you justify stepping over the line and ignoring the clear breach and movement to indoctrinate those in this country under the umbrella of “Christian Values” which in itself completely contradicts what Christian Values truly are and represent?

I assure you that even forcing people to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance to this country is a form of indoctrination.  Expecting everyone to stand during the National Anthem is a form of indoctrination. Why is this being played before sporting events?  People have the right to free speech and expression, and demanding these two shows of Nationalism is a violation.  Americans are able to decide if they feel represented and protected by this country.  Children in school are too young to know whether they are ready to pledge allegiance to this country… they cannot even vote for their own rights and interests, let alone understand the language and vocabulary in the pledge.  Banning books from libraries and schools is another form of government overreach and control.  Why do these select few get to choose which books students read?  Being able to see yourself in books and history has been a privilege that not everyone is afforded.  I am constantly learning new facts and gaining knowledge about people that don’t look like me, identify like me, or believe in the same things as I do from the books that I read.  This is not something that should be taken away by our government.  I hear quite a lot of chatter about giving more decisions and control to the states and local government, but cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would want to live under such large government control like that.  Turning decisions and laws over to state and local governments gives so much power and control over your day-to-day life.  Where is the line for you? Which party is demanding to stand for the National Anthem? Demanding children pledge their allegiance every single day? Banning books? Trying to control what highly educated professionals trained to educate are teaching in public school? Seems like quite a bit of government overreach and control being sought after by a party who claims they are for small government.

If you don’t judge others and love thy neighbor, then this election must be so incredibly easy for you to pick a candidate.  You aren’t worried or judging other women about what they do with their bodies because you are only worried about your own body.  You aren’t judging others about who they love and how they show their love, because you are only worried about your own love. You are so infatuated with the person you get to kiss and hold hands with in public, that you don’t even pay attention to the other couples around you. And you certainly aren’t voting Republican seeing as that is exactly what the party has been doing and working on doing across the country… rolling back LGBTQ+ rights and rolling back women being able to have bodily autonomy.

I also grew up during a time where sports for girls was not always available.  If girls wanted to play certain sports, they had to play on the boys’ teams.  There was always an option of signing up for co-ed sports.  So, why all of a sudden is it an issue for boys wanting to play with girls?  It was never an issue before?  There was never an issue of concern over bathrooms before when we had co-ed teams.  Is the line for you misogyny and bigotry?  Doesn’t seem like it is if you’re only chirping about boys playing on the girls’ teams and not the girls who want to, and actively play on the boys’ teams.  No one is causing a fuss over girls stealing moments and awards from the boys.  Are you not causing a fuss over this because you may inherently think that girls are less skilled than boys?  Food for thought.

Immigration is another major issue in America.  In February of this year, we had a bipartisan bill on the Senate floor.  It was one of the strongest border security bills that we have seen in years.  Republicans approved this bill and were ready to vote to pass it, until Trump instructed them to vote against it.  This was to solely benefit him and his campaign (immigration is a hot topic he is campaigning on while saying Biden’s administration failed in this area) instead of the greater good of our country.  He would rather have the American people still upset and fighting over immigration, than see a solution under an administration not his own.  That’s not someone that I have faith in protecting the greater good at the sacrifice of him not getting the applause for it. He is too vested in his own self-image and how he can benefit the most.

This weekend I watched a historical documentary/movie and these specific lines really resonated with me: “Jesus. Look at them all. Idiots. They’re all brainwashed. Not everyone can believe this. Surely they can see what he is. But they don’t. Look at them. This is not an act.”  Guess who they were referring to.  If you guessed Hitler and his Nazi followers, you’d be correct.  Although, I bet you also thought about Trump and MAGA.  Where is the line in the sand for you?  Neo-Nazis are aligning themselves with Trump and everything that MAGA stands for.  This is where geometry comes into play.  Not all rectangles are squares, but all squares are rectangles.  Do I believe that all Trump supporters are Neo-Nazis? Hell no.  But are all Neo-Nazis, Trump supporters?  100%.  Neo-Nazis are aligning themselves with this man and what he stands for. No one is denouncing them and telling them that their beliefs are racist and problematic, and quite frankly, horrifying.  If that is not enough to send his supporters running for the hills, then WHAT IS?  There has to be something that shifts in the mind of Trump supporters and says, “if Nazis are aligning with the person I’m aligning with, I should probably reevaluate here.”

Where the hell is your line, that if crossed you can no longer support this man and what he stands for?  It clearly wasn’t in 2015 where he said he can grab women by their pu$$ies.  This shouldn’t surprise me considering the same people that shrugged off Trump saying it’s cool to S.A. women, are the same one’s saying Kamala Harris slept her way to where she is.  What an incredibly hateful, misogynistic, and ignorant thing to think (and even scarier if you believe it to be true) and then turn around and vote for Trump.  She was elected into every position by American citizens and has experience in all three branches of our government… judicial, legislative and executive.  If you don’t care about Trump’s relationships and sexual affairs, then why are you caring about Harris’s?  Are you uneducated on the facts or just a hypocrite?  Or does this circle right back to misogyny and bigotry?  Trump has numerous allegations of sexual assault against him, aligned himself with sex traffickers, was held liable of sexual abuse and defamation and had to pay $5 million, and clearly has no respect for the sanctity of heterosexual marriage.  How do you ignore that and still say this is your guy?  How do you have women in your life that you say you love and vote for this predator? Are these a part of the Christian morals and values you live by?  Where is your line? ( 19thNews.org )

It’s quite alright to admit you were wrong or misinformed, acquired new factual knowledge and won’t be aligning with him any longer.  Being aligned with someone or the party that is anti-LGBTQ+, anti-bodily autonomy and women’s rights, anti-immigrant, pro-allowing children to die in school shootings and doing nothing about it, pro-inciting violence, pro-spreading lies and misinformation, pro-hate, pro-big government and government control just does not make sense. It just does not scream Christian morals and values to me.  Or, keep wearing your ear pillows and garbage bags and wonder why no one takes you seriously and will forever equate you to the Confederacy and Nazi parties in the History books.

Vote. Let’s not do this shit again. We’ve been battling this fascist since 2015. We’re tired. For now, rant over.
